Our Aim
Our aim here at YouTube Artists is to help bring awareness of the so many YouTube Artists out there that perform cover versions of other artists songs for the love of it and because they are good at it. They are the reason that YouTube was created in the first place, for people to upload videos of themselves.
Sometimes these artists might just be using the webcam built into their laptop and the built in microphone, others might have more professional equipment, either way they all sound good.
Sure you could turn on the radio and listen to the songs they sing, but those songs have been recorded totally in professional environments with all the editing programs that they could possibly want.
I would rather hear someone sing live, even if they might miss a note or whatever, but so what... they sing live, this is them doing what they do best and what they love.
There is no doubt that some of the artists featured on here could go on to bigger things and secure contracts, but the proof of their talent was first displayed on YouTube.
The stats prove this, I have only a couple to post here because these are the first two artists that I have added so far, but Alexa Goddard has 819,974 Channel views, 11,991,837 total upload views and Ebony Day has 759,633 channel views, 4,213,234 total upload views (these figures were at the time of writing and will have increased by now). What more of a testament do you need than that?
I often start a listening session by YouTube'ing one of the names that I have featured on here, and then throughout the next few hours just click on suggested links going from song to song, artist to artist.
I'm sure many other people do this too, so hopefully YouTube Artists will make the process easier as the featured artists progresses.
